More about the British Columbia Modern Music Federation
BCMMF is a musicians union created entirely to focus on the benefits of music. This includes connecting like-minded musicians in BC together. Other benefits include solidifying your musical status, connecting to the music community, and much more.
Our aim is to bring the lesser-known music that many artists play up front. As you may know, there are areas in BC where the 'scene' is not cutting it for some musicians. Problems include musicians not finding the right locale for their music. It is extremely important to be able to have this resource, as it can bring their music to the expanding scenes around the province.
Through a union, these musicians can gather together as members and within a council they can share ideas that can be put to use. One purpose of BCMMF is to establish a festival that is filled with these union members. The reason one must be a part of the union to be join the festival is only to make sure that encouraging, growing, positive music reaches the masses. It is also our intention to bring willing underground artists to light. Typically, this means that most of the members will be playing artistically integral music. Anyone who has ever wanted to witness a concert for the music and the visual aspect can be satisfied. Anyone who has wanted a concert to be artistic and meaningful will be fulfilled. We also want to establish a Free Music Festival as well, with the advent of enough willing participants. More details will be coming soon!
